Stuart graduated from William & Mary law school in 1979, and got his B.A. from
Alma College in Michigan in 1976.

He began his legal search career in 1988 after working as a Professional Staff
Member on the U.S. Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee, an associate
at Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson & Hand (now DLA Piper) in
Washington, D.C. and as an Assistant City Attorney in Alexandria, Virginia.

Stuart has been a member of the Food and Drug Law Institute (FDLI) since 2010
and was a member of the 2024, 2025, and 2026 annual conference planning
committees. In 2026, he was awarded the “Service to FDLI” award:
 
Further, STLS was a legacy sponsor of FDLI’s 75th Anniversary year-long
celebration (2024), and he has been on numerous other FDLI committees.

He maintains an active LinkedIn presence.

He has been published, quoted, and appeared in the National Law Journal, The
Virginia Bar Journal, Update magazine (an FDLI publication), The Washington
Legal Times (now the National Law Journal), The Federal Bar Association, The
Nurse Attorney Association of Washington, DC, The Women's Bar Association of
Washington DC. He was interviewed on “Hiring Trends in the Life Sciences” on
the “Darshan talks” podcast in 2021 and was profiled .

On a personal note, Stuart played collegiate basketball while at Alma, winning all
league honors his junior and senior year. He won an NCAA post graduate
scholarship which he used to attend William and Mary law school. He has two
grown children and is passionate about mental health (he was a Board Member of
the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Maryland Chapter) from 2018 to 2024 and
re-joined the Board in 2026.
